Re: Could not obtain license (-200) with render slave installation Yeah, their support isn't very good. Driver motherboard phoenix awardbios v6 00pg. Try reinstalling the license server. There's a post on their forum about an early April windows update that killed a license component and the post has a link to the license install. Just bought a license of VRay, and after receiving the dongle and following the installation instructions (I think), VRay is still not finding the license server in the render dialog.

Could not obtain a license (-96)
Hi,
I have a problem with my Vray floating licenses.
I launch Max 2017, loading Vray tools without problem.
I run a Render with Vray 3.60, no problem. But suddenly, no more license, then it comes back and I lose the licenses.
I have this message in V-ray posts:
Tiled texture cache to 4000Mb
preparing renderer ..
error: Could not obtain a license (-96)
Total sequence time: 0.1s
Error: 1 error (s), to warming (s)
I see my license server on port 30304 and I have licenses available.
Same problem under Maya 2017.
Do you have any idea of the problem?
Thank you for your help.- Jul 2017

Hello,
If I understand correctly, you are able to render, but during the rendering you lose the license? Are the license server and V-Ray installed on the same machine? If they are not, I think the problem could be caused by a network disruption between the license server and your computer. Are you able to access the license server on port 30304 right after the problem occurs?Ivaylo Marinov

Yes, I manage to render but after X rendering, it happens regularly that I have this error message.
In parallel, I ping the server, no interuption.
And everyone who uses Vray to the same problem at the same time.Comment

Are the licenses on a UBS dongle or online - can you send me a PM with your username or dongle serial number?
It seems like either the dongle stops functioning for a while or there is a problem with the connection to ols.chaosgroup.com, which is used by the online licensing. You can open the web interface of the License Server on http://<IP_ADDRESS>:30304 , this should show you a list of all the available and engaged licenses at any given moment. Are your licenses still listed there, while the problem is ongoing?
If it is possible to reproduce the problem, we can schedule a remote session, so I can take a better look at your system.Ivaylo Marinov

The licenses are in USB Dongle on the server.
On my 'myserver: 30304' interface, I have ONLINE LICENSING and DONGLE is green.
But I just noticed in the notifications this message:
'Could not connect (getaddrinfo ENOTFOUND ols.chaosgroup.com ols.chaosgroup.com:443)'
'Request failed, resetting connection (read ECONNRESET)'
Yes during a rendering, I see a license that is committed and then it is released at the end of rendering.Comment

The errors about ols.chaosgroup.com should be ignorable, if the licenses are on a dongle, as with the dongle licensing no internet connection is required. When you open the notifications, there should be a download logs button, which will provide a zip with the logs - can you send those?Ivaylo Marinov

You can deactivate the Online Licensing as you do not need it - there are many errors related to it in the logs, but they should be ignored, as the licenses are on the dongle. The only error related to the dongle I found is:
'msg':'Could not report dongle info, service unavailable.','time':'2017-10-18T09:38:23.166Z'
Does that time coincides with the time you had the licensing problems?
Also please go to the web interface of the license server -> Settings -> Diagnostics -> Log level and set it to extra verbose, if it is not already set that way. Then, deactivate the online licensing, so it stops throwing the errors related to it, check if the problem happens again and send me the new logs.Ivaylo Marinov

Can there be links to the WIBU-KEY Server service?
I can not tell you if this conincides with the licensing problems because we can have this license problem 10 times in the half dayComment

You do not need to install the WIBU-KEY network server and monitor, as they are not used in the licensing process. Actually I would recommend to remove the WIBU-KEY server, just in case in interferes somehow.
I think it will be best, if we can have a remote session, so I can take a better look at your system. Is there a way to arrange this?Ivaylo Marinov
